Some More Crocheting

Well I have been working on my first Baby Boy gift.

It was so much fun and turned out wonderfully!!!

I also finished up on working on a hat to match the gift I am sending to my sister.

Up next is the Katamari Prince and the Katamari ball! It is going to be so much fun, I found a great pattern for it and I am so pumped up to work on it.

But until then here are a few photos of my latest projects.

My Crocheted Creations

I learned how to crochet a chain when I was maybe 10ish. My Mom was amazing at crocheting and it was always so fascinating to watch her crochet. My mother was amazing at art and just crafting things and she still is!

5 years later

I was living with my Aunt Gladys I found a left handers crocheting book. - I am right handed - Well I started learning again from that book but as a right hander and was able to accomplish a chain and a single crochet.

2-3 years later

Well as life went on I was able to expand my learning with my foster family. Linda, Kristy and Katie. Well again I had to start from the beginning with a chain and learning the basic stitches - single, double crochet and combining them. I was able to make a couple scarfs winter headband to keep my ears warm and a really funny looking beanie.

2 years later

Well I forget when I really got back into it again. I had wanted to start crocheting again after I had my daughter Jazmine. Make little hats or something for her or even a blanket (which my foster sister and my mom  both made one for Jazmine and I sewed one). So I just researched it every now and again but never really got back into until some summer when my sister Teddy visited. She had seen the huge blanket my mom had made for me and the one she made Jazmine. She said she had always wanted an Afghan (another name for a crocheted blanket) So right then and there in my mind I said, "I am going to make one!"

It took about 3 weeks before I really got it in my mind again that, "Hey, You should start this and have it made by Christmas for her and her boyfriend John." So I called John and asked him what colors He and Teddy would like for a blanket. I wanted it to be a surprise. - Now they are both amazing artists and get designers, so I figured this would be easy - Well John was not sure, there are just so many colors to choose from. So then I found a website with yarn swatches and he picked 5 colors.

I was super excited by this point I have the pattern I wanted and now the colors!!! The motivation was there and I was pumped up and ready to go. I worked on it with excitement for a couple months and realized, "Wow this seems like it is going to take longer then I thought." I worked like a manic to get it done by Christmas and in between that made hats and things and worked on smaller projects here and there to perfect my speed and learning different patterns and things.

Well I did finish the blanket on time for Christmas - It came out ridiculously huge and beautiful!!!

This is what it looked like spread out on a full size bed

and this is the other side - I am not sure how it came to be so long I measured it???

And from far away what it looks like spread out on a full size bed

Fits just right when folded in half

So that was my first super big project with crocheting. Like I said I did some mini projects while working on the blanket.

I made lots of hats at the beginning of working on different patterns and designs and just playing with different types of colors and yarn.

This was my very first hat

Fun Fun

I had made two skater beanies for my friends during Roxbury Camp - I was also working on the blanket at that time.

Here is a hat I made for Jazmine

I bought a book of flowers this one was rather easy - the hard part was sewing it onto the hat

I got into making little animals and toys it is called amigurumi - definition -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amigurumi

Here are a couple
This was the first little guy I made

After that my sister asked me to make her some - Here is a platypus

And then she suggested I make a replica of her cat Boris

I manage to do a rather good job and Boris loves his Boris very much *Smiles*

I had not worked on much since then other then I tried doing some knitting --- That was and is still something I am trying to work on. I have barely got past the basics...

So later I worked on making my first baby mobile which was going to be a gift to my foster sister Kristy. I do not have a picture of it though... But it had a moon, star, cloud and sun hanging from it very adorable but not the best I can now.

One of our friends are pregnant with twins and I got on it to make them something very special for there twin girls. Because they have been trying for years to have children and were finally blessed with twins Hope and Faith (not born yet but we just celebrated the baby shower!)

So I made two mobiles with there names on it. I also made two little hats and two tigers (they are going to be born the year of the tiger)

So this is just about the last crochet project I have done. I am so proud of my self. My skills of crocheting have greatly increased!

Here are those photos

Tigers and there stripes.

I used and embroidery stitch for the stripes

One with brown eyes

And one with blue so they can tell them apart after they give them to the girls
I have one last one I just worked on for my oldest sister Addy

I am not to sure what it is but my sister found a pattern for him and asked me to make him. I am also going to work on making the little guy from Katamari Damacy. Fun Fun.
